Itanagar: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has sanctioned Rs 6,728.33 crore for the construction of eight sections of National Highway-913 (Frontier Highway) in Arunachal Pradesh as Intermediate Lane Road.

Spanning 305.50 km, these stretches will be constructed on the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) mode, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted the significance of this development in a post on X, stating that it aims to improve connectivity to border areas and promote socio-economic advancement.

Gadkari emphasized that the construction of the Frontier Highway is expected to deter migration and encourage settlement in Arunachal Pradesh’s border regions.

Additionally, Gadkari noted that these stretches of the frontier highway will establish vital road infrastructure, connecting major river basins and facilitating the development of numerous hydropower projects in the state.

He highlighted that this mostly greenfield road will link sparsely populated Upper Arunachal areas, which are conducive to tourism, and is anticipated to witness increased traffic due to the growing tourism sector in the future.
