Itanagar: The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has sanctioned a substantial amount of Rs 3,890.45 crore for the construction of three segments of the National Highway 913 (Frontier Highway) in Arunachal Pradesh.

This allocation encompasses the development of the Lada-Sarli, Sarli-Huri, and Kharsang-Miao-Vijaynagar-Gandhigram sections, collectively covering a distance of 202.14 km.

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, communicated the details of these construction projects through a series of tweets on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

An allocation of Rs 2,248.94 crore has been earmarked for the construction of the Lada-Sarli segment of NH-913, spanning 105.59 km.

Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode will be employed for executing Packages 1, 2, 3, & 6 within this section.

Furthermore, the MoRTH has approved Rs 1,014.59 crore for the development of the Kharsang-Miao-Vijaynagar – Gandhigram section of NH-913, covering a distance of 61.55 km, also to be executed in EPC mode.

The remaining allocation of Rs 626.92 crore will be utilized for the construction of the Sarli-Huri section, extending over 35 km in the Kurung Kumey district, and also executed under the EPC mode.

Gadkari underscored the critical importance of these projects in establishing a robust communication network for security forces, thereby fostering economic activities.

He emphasized their role in encouraging reverse migration to the dynamic border regions and linking vital river basins, thereby facilitating the development of hydropower projects in the state.

He further emphasized that the projects aim to ensure uninterrupted and safe traffic flow while establishing year-round connectivity for the villages in the region.

β€œThis initiative will augment connectivity to border areas, mitigate migration, and foster socio-economic development,” he said.

Gadkari also highlighted the pivotal role of the project in augmenting essential road infrastructure for connecting significant river basins, catalyzing the development of hydropower projects and promoting tourism in the sparsely populated Upper Arunachal region.
