Ziro: The Lower Subansiri police on Sunday arrested two drug peddlers, Kime Talo, a 3rd IRBN personnel presently posted at High Court sentry duty in Yupia and Tana Sanjib for possession of 19.22 grams of suspected heroin.
The arrests were made based on reliable information indicating drug peddling activities in the Hija village area.
A joint police team, led by sub-inspector K Yigam and including constables R Bangyang, R Chada, and N K Suiyang under the supervision of Lower Subansiri SP, intercepted the accused Kime Talo near Nada Lapang and recovered 6 plastic vials containing suspected heroin weighing 7.92 grams from his possession.
During interrogation, Talo revealed that he had recently purchased the banned items from Tana Sanjib, a resident of Ganga village, Itanagar.
Subsequently, the police team arrested Sanjib from his residence in Ganga village with assistance from Chimpu police station and guidance from the Capital SP.
One plastic pouch and 7 plastic vials containing suspected heroin weighing 11.3 grams were seized from Sanjib’s possession.
A case has been registered under the appropriate sections of the NDPS Act, and SI Yigam has been assigned to lead the investigation.
An intimation regarding the arrest of the IRBN personnel has been sent to the 3rd IRBN commanding officer and Papum Pare SP for necessary departmental action.
