Kokrajhar: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly speaker and CPA India Region Zone-III chairman, P D Sona, on Sunday voiced concerns about climate change and global warming, emphasizing the imperative to protect the fragile ecology, especially in regions closely connected to nature.

Addressing the 3rd edition of Kokrajhar Literary Festival here, Sona stressed the moral duty of each individual to safeguard the environment for future generations.

He also underscored the importance of collective efforts in preserving the only habitat we have for generations to come.

The literary extravaganza, hosted in Kokrajhar town of Assam, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 180 poets and writers hailing from eight countries, including Japan, Myanmar, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Estonia, Kenya, Bangladesh and Bhutan.

Distinguished figures such as Dr Bina Vidya Dharan, Emmanuel Majaw Khan, Dr Avani Bhagavati and renowned poet Samir Tanti are actively contributing to panel discussions during the festival.

Earlier, Sona praised the organizing committee for their dedicated efforts in fostering cultural exchange and intellectual dialogue.

He underscored the festival’s crucial role in uniting diverse voices and fostering a shared appreciation for literature.

Sona also lauded the positive transformation of Kokrajhar, attributing it to the political will of the Government of India, the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the collective efforts of the Assam chief minister and the people of Bodoland.

He highlighted the festival as a platform for connecting with intellectual minds and facilitating meaningful communication.

Expressing optimism, the CPA chairman hoped that the three-day event, with its diverse parallel sessions and activities, would instill a rich literary culture in Bodoland and contribute to the intellectual development of young minds.

He encouraged the youth to actively engage in literary pursuits, drawing inspiration from the international luminaries brought to Bodoland.

The inaugural day of the festival set a lively tone with engaging poetry recitations, poets’ gatherings and various cultural events.

The chosen theme for this year, “Exploring Limitless Horizons,” aims to hold discussions on governance and sustainable management.
