SIC arrests former education officer over illegal appointments

Itanagar: The Special Investigation Cell (Vigilance) of the Arunachal police has arrested a former elementary education director over alleged illegal appointments of primary teachers and other staff members within the education department in Anjaw district.

The case, registered under sections 120(B)/420/409/468/471 IPC R/W Sec. 13(2) PC Act, 1988, (pertaining to illegal appointment of primary teachers and other staffs in the Longding education department), was initiated on the basis of an FIR filed by inspector Techi Nega of the SIC.

The SIC, which was investigating a similar case in Longding district, found that instances of illegal appointments had also occurred in Anjaw district.

A case was officially registered at the SIC (Vigilance) on August 29, 2023.

SIC (Vigilance) superintendent of police Anant Mittal said the arrest was made after meticulous scrutiny of documents, interrogation of suspects, and technical analysis.

The arrested individual has been identified as Tapi Gao (63) and was the then director of elementary education in Anjaw district. Gao is a native of Sile village in East Siang district.

The SIC investigation into the illegal appointments is ongoing and all facets of the case are being investigated in detail, SP Mittal said.
