Rono Hills: The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) has been accredited with a 3.02 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) out of 4 and awarded an ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) on Friday.
A seven-member NAAC peer team visited the university from February 27 to 29 last and inspected the campus, following which they submitted their observation report to the NAAC.
The NAAC accreditation process is a rigorous evaluation of an institution’s academic infrastructure, governance, teaching-learning processes, student support services, research, and other key parameters.
It serves as a benchmark for quality assurance and continuous improvement in higher education institutions. The accreditation for RGU, the lone Central University of the state, will be valid up to March 13, 2029.
Expressing his happiness over the accreditation, RGU vice-chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha termed it a moment of celebration for the entire RGU fraternity and a testament to the university’s commitment to excellence in higher education and relentless pursuit of academic quality and standards.
“The accreditation is a validation of the hard work and commitment of faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders of the university. It reinforces RGU’s position as a leading institution of higher learning, dedicated to nurturing talent, fostering research, and contributing to society in Arunachal and the nation at large,” he said.
Prof Kushwaha also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh for all the support provided to the RGU for its overall development.
“We should at the same time not forget that maintaining this newly-gained height is a challenge that all must be ready to face. The vision of RGU should now be to achieve the higher ranking of ‘A++’ in future. This can be realized by maintaining the required data and breaking new grounds in research and other activities,” the vice-chancellor said.
University registrar Dr Nabam Tadar Rikam said the achievement reflects RGU’s unwavering dedication to providing high-quality education and holistic development.
Dr Rikam expressed his gratitude to the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders who have contributed to this remarkable achievement.
“Their dedication, hard work, and support have been instrumental in attaining this accreditation. The support and cooperation of the state government, the local administration and local denizens are highly solicited,” he said.
Dr Rikam further added that the RGU NAAC committee headed by Prof Utpal Bhattacharjee and Dr Rajesh Chakrabarty and IQAC director Prof R C Parida deserves special appreciation for their hardship/toils to achieve this feat of success.
