RBI expands reach with new sub-office in Itanagar

Itanagar: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has officially launched its sub-office in Itanagar, the capital Arunachal Pradesh.

RBI deputy director, Dr Michael Debabrata Patra, presided over the inauguration of the sub-office on Friday, The Hindu reported.

The Itanagar sub-office will initiate its operations with several specialized departments and cells, including the Financial Inclusion and Development Department (FIDD), Human Resource Management Department (HRMD), Consumer Education and Protection Cell (CEPC) and Market Intelligence Cell (MIC).

It’s important to note that the currency management for the state of Arunachal Pradesh will continue to be overseen by the RBI’s Guwahati Office.

The sub-office, situated within the premises of the Arunachal Pradesh Forest Corporation Limited Building in Itanagar, is under the leadership of Abhijit Majumdar, who holds the position of general manager (officer-in-charge).

With the establishment of this sub-office, the RBI has now extended its presence to encompass all seven states in the northeastern region, the report added.
