Changlang: In a startling revelation, the Changlang district administration has unearthed cases of “ghost employees” who have been receiving salaries without any physical presence or legitimate employment within the district’s education department.

This disconcerting discovery was brought to light through an order issued by Changlang’s Deputy Commissioner, Sunny K Singh on Friday.

Singh has called for immediate corrective measures to curb further financial improprieties within the system.

The order issued by the DC mandates a comprehensive verification of employee records across all government departments. It also underscores the pressing need to confirm the physical presence of each employee in the field, alluding to the possibility of similar irregularities in other governmental divisions.

In the meantime, DC Singh has taken a firm stance, declaring that salaries for the upcoming month will only be processed upon submission of a certificate affirming the physical presence of all the employees.

This measure is designed to prevent the disbursement of salaries to non-existent or unauthorized individuals.

Beyond serving as a cautionary directive, the order also calls upon department heads to uphold transparency and accountability within their respective divisions, emphasizing the need for vigilant oversight in the management of public resources.
