Itanagar: The Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA) in Chimpu was a hub of pride and celebration as it felicitated its exceptional Wushu athletes – Onilu Tega, Nyeman Wangsu and Mepung Lamgu – who had secured the prestigious opportunity to represent the nation at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Addressing the occasion, Sports director Tadar Appa, expressed profound pride in the achievement of these athletes, underscoring its historic significance for the SLSA.
He conveyed his hopes for more students across various disciplines within the academy to follow in the footsteps of these remarkable athletes, excelling not only at the national level but also on the international stage.
Appa articulated his vision for the SLSA to establish itself as a premier sports institution, not only within Arunachal Pradesh but also across the entire North East region.
SLSA principal, Likha Vida, lauded the exceptional dedication exhibited by these athletes and encouraged not only them but all students of the academy to wholeheartedly commit themselves to their training and coaching in their respective sports disciplines.
The dignitaries present also acknowledged the relentless efforts of the three gifted athletes, who, under the expert guidance of their dedicated coach, M Premchandra Singh, had continuously honed their skills since their admission to SLSA in 2013.
“Their selection for the Asian Games serves as a resounding testament to their unwavering commitment to their sport and their relentless pursuit of excellence,” they said.
Notably, the trio’s journey to the Asian Games was not without its challenges, as they had to overcome issues related to accreditation cards and visa disputes with the host nation.
The felicitation ceremony also witnessed the presence of dignitaries from the directorate of sports, coaches, instructors, teachers, and students of SLSA.
