DNGC leads India in hosting ‘Amrit Kaal Vimarsh’ event

"Amrit Kaal," in line with the PM's vision, aims to transform India into a developed nation, ensuring equitable development for all.

Itanagar: The Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) on Friday achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first educational institution in India to organize the “Amrit Kaal Vimarsh Viksit Bharat @2047” event.

The event was sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).

“Amrit Kaal,” in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, aims to transform India into a developed nation, ensuring equitable development for all as the nation celebrates its 100th year of independence in 2047.

The day saw state chief information commissioner, Dr Joram Begi, deliver an insightful lecture on “Education (NEP and Viksit Bharat),” marking the inaugural event in a series of activities planned under the Amrit Kaal Vimarsh initiative.

Dr Begi commenced the discourse by providing a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of India’s education landscape since independence.

He conducted a comparative assessment of various education policies, highlighting the pressing need for educational reform, dating back to the National Policy on Education in 1986.

The CIC also emphasized the necessity for the education system to adapt to the dynamic demands of the modern era.

Dr Begi further delved into institutional and structural transformations, changes in school and higher education systems, alterations in examination procedures, fee structures, the promotion of interdisciplinary approaches, and the introduction of multiple entry and exit points.

He also highlighted the emphasis on digital education and the increased budget allocation to education, with the ambitious goal of reaching a mandatory 6% of GDP, positioning India as a global knowledge superpower.

He called upon teachers and students, the primary stakeholders, to play pivotal roles in achieving this visionary goal.

Dr Bathsheba G Pyngrope, consultant for academic and administrative affairs at ICSSR-NERC, NEHU Campus, Shillong, provided valuable insights into ICSSR’s role as an academic funding agency and outlined the facilities and courses offered by NERC, Shillong, to enhance teacher capacity.

Dr Pyngrope encouraged attendees from various colleges to seek assistance from ICSSR for organizing conferences and seminars. She highlighted that NEP-2020 aligns with international education standards and caters to the unique interests and capabilities of today’s youth.

Earlier, DNGC principal Dr M Q Khan extended a warm welcome to all attendees, emphasizing the institution’s unwavering commitment to the principle of “Sabka saath, sabka prayas.”

The event witnessed the participation of over 500 attendees, representing 12 institutions in the Itanagar Capital Region. This diverse audience included heads of institutions, faculty members, dedicated research scholars and enthusiastic students.

Eminent personalities such as Arunadaya University vice-chancellor Dr V N Sharma and Doimukh Government College principal Dr Taw Azu were also honored on the occasion.

The session featured an interactive question and answer segment, where both students and faculty members posed thought-provoking inquiries.

Amrit Kaal Vimarsh coordinator, Dr Ratna Tayeng, concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the collective efforts that made the event a resounding success.
