New temple, ordination hall for Namsai’s Golden Pagoda

A Buddha relic gifted by His Eminence Sangha-Raja of Sri-Lanka was also enshrined into a golden statue at the Buddha temple.

Namsai: Adding grandeur to the famous Kongmu-Kham (Golden Pagoda) here, two new structures — ordination hall and a Buddha temple — were dedicated to the people by revered Thai monk His Eminence Reverent Loung-Phow Somphon on Wednesday.

Present on the occasion were, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein, Abbot of Golden Pagoda Reverent Vimalatissa, revered monks, bhikkhus and devotees from Thailand, Arunachal Pradesh and other parts of the country.

A Buddha relic gifted by His Eminence Sangha-Raja of Sri-Lanka was also enshrined into a golden statue at the Buddha temple.

The ordination hall and a Buddha temple were donated by Mein and his family members while the golden statue was donated by Saphaboon Foundation, Thailand & San Francisco and one Laongdao Boon Prasert from the United States of America.

Speaking on the occasion, Reverent Vimalatissa informed that the Buddha Relic which was enshrined into the golden statue was kept in Thailand for the last two years due to Covid and it has brought good fortune and prosperity where-ever it was kept.

It is with the same belief that the relic has been brought in the region, he said.

Terming the day as a ‘blessed’ one for all, Mein expressed his gratitude to Reverent Loung-Phow Somphon and all the monks and devotees from Thailand for coming all the way to Namsai to dedicate the ordination hall and the temple.

He also conveyed his gratitude to Chief Minister Pema Khandu for donating the main gate of Golden Pagoda and Namsai DFO and his officials for beautifying the premises.

It is pertinent to mention here that apart from the religious activities, Kongmu-Kham has also become a major centre of tourist attraction in Eastern Arunachal.
