Electoral bonds: APYC condemns freezing of AICC, IYC accounts

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) has strongly condemned the “freezing of the bank accounts of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Indian Youth Congress (IYC) by the ruling BJP government”.

This action comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s declaration of Electoral Bonds as unconstitutional.

In a statement issued on Friday APYC president, Tarh Johny, criticized the BJP government “for its misuse of power and attempts to silence opposition parties and their leaders”.

He described the freezing of the accounts, especially during the peak election season, as a malicious act that undermines the democratic system of the country.

Johny accused the BJP government of trying to establish a dictatorial regime and called for the immediate unfreezing of the accounts.

He urged all sections of society, regardless of party affiliations, to condemn this act and protect the democratic principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

“This act of arrogance is condemnable in the strongest manner by all sections of the society irrespective of party affiliations to safeguard democratic principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution,” Johny said.
