Arunachal bags 3 awards in NE’s biggest ever Organic Fair

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB) along with the Farmers Producer Companies and farmers from Arunachal bagged 3 awards at the first edition of Expo One Organic North-East International Trade Fair on Sunday.

APAMB chief executive officer Okit Palling received the award for the board’s outstanding achievements in the development of organic sector in the North East Region, especially for exporting organic products in international markets while Takum Nabam, the managing director of Kameng Organic Farmers Producer Company Ltd received the award for his achievements in organic farming.

Athina Chauhai led Namsai Organic Spices and Agricultural Products Producer Company Ltd also bagged an award for being a pioneer farmer producer organization in promoting organic farming in the north east.

Speaking on the occasion, Palling highlighted the APAMB and Arunachal government’s efforts to transfer Arunachal into an organic farming hub of the country.

More than 15 Farmers Producer Companies and 50 farmers from Arunachal participated in the 3-day trade fair which concluded at the College of Veterinary Science Playground in Khanapara, Guwahati on Sunday.

The event was jointly organised by the department of agriculture, Government of Assam, Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd. and Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Govenment of India to boost export of agricultural and horticultural products from the northeast region.

The trade fair focused on linking growers with consumers and to support the development of the entire value chain for promotion of organic products worldwide.

The event consisted of a hi-quality exhibition from leading companies in naturals, organics and exports, agribusinesses, B2B meetings, B2C events, farmers’ workshop, etc.

More than 200 delegates from diverse sectors, consisting of farmers, traders/exporters, researchers, NGOs, Central and State Government officials also participated in the event.
