Itanagar: The All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) and All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) have announced to hold a joint ‘mass referendum rally’ in connection with the APPSC paper leak scam here on December 03 next.
ANSU vice-president Rahim Yangfo said the decision to conduct the rally has been taken over the delay in investigation by the agencies concerned.
The rally would begin from the Dera Natung Government College and culminate at the Indira Gandhi Park, he said.
Addressing media persons at the Press Club here, Yangfo informed that the AAPSU and ANSU have received a memorandum from the civil services aspirants under the banner ‘Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee’.
The memorandum is in relation to cash-for-job scams in various exams conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh State Service Commission (APPSC), he said.
“Also the investigation into the case is getting delayed and the state government is yet to take strict action against officials involved in corruption,” the ANSU leader said.
Yangfo said the union is of the belief that the corrupt practices within the APPSC is not new and the recent arrest of candidates and government officials by the SIC has confirmed the same.
We demand the state government to declare all exams where the question paper has been leaked as null and void, he said.
Yangfo said the AAPSU and ANSU would also be placing several other demands in front of the state government.
The demands include immediate arrest of the APPSC chairman, secretary, members and all the officials of the Commission, an ED and court-monitored probe into the case(s) and immediate dismissal and termination of all the state government officials involved in the scam.
“We also demand that the APPSC should not declare any examination date until the investigation process is completed and a new standard operating procedure (SOP) for the examination be prepared with the participation of at least 2 aspirants,” Yangfo said.
Besides the aforementioned demands the ANSU and AAPSU would also be pressing the government to recruit Mudang Yabyang, a person with a disability candidate for the post of lecturer at the polytechnic college here and reward whistleblower Gyamar Padung with the post of an assistant engineer (civil).
Meanwhile, the ANSU has also called for the ‘three-member IAS committee report on AE (Civil) paper leak’ to be made public and compensation be given to all the aggrieved candidates.
“We also make it clear that the issue raised by the unions and the aggrieved aspirants is not against any particular community. Rather it is for the welfare of the future generation,” Yangfo said while appealing to all political parties, community based organisations, religious and educational institutions and individuals to make their presence felt in the rally.
A total of 22 persons including APPSC deputy secretary and deputy controller of examination Taket Jerang have been arrested in the paper leak case by the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of the state police so far.
The CBI is also probing the case.
