Tawang: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday appreciated the efforts put in by the healthcare workers of the state and country to contribute to the success of India’s vaccination drive against Covid-19 as the country surpassed the 100-crore mark of cumulative vaccine doses administered on Thursday.
“You have implemented on the ground what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had envisioned and motivated. Without your sincerity and dedication to the call of duty, this mission wouldn’t have been possible in such enormity,” the chief minister said.
Khandu said this while addressing an event organized to mark the occasion at the Khandro Drowa Sangmo (KDS) district hospital here.
The chief minister also hailed PM Modi for his belief in the administration and healthcare workers and his constant motivation and guidance.
“Under his (Modi’s) leadership India has achieved what other developed countries can only imagine,” he asserted.
The chief minister expressed optimism that very soon the vaccination against Covid will also be possible for children along with the expected ‘booster dose’ for all.
“Going by the current success rate under Narendra Modiji, this will be a reality sooner than later,” he affirmed.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president Tejaswi Surya who accompanied the chief minister on the occasion also expressed gratitude to all healthcare workers for the ‘unthinkable’ feat in India’s fight against Covid-19.
“In less than 9 months time we came up with two ‘make-in-India’ vaccinations against Covid and in the shortest possible time, we have vaccinated the highest number of people ever in the history of mankind. This could be possible only through the visionary leadership of our prime minister and dedicated service of our healthcare workers and officials at the state and district levels,’ he said.
Surya also congratulated Arunachal Pradesh for being one of the best performing states in the country despite its difficult geographic location and remoteness.
Surya, also a Lok Sabha MP from Bangalore South vouched that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wouldn’t miss in his speeches as well as interactions to cite the example of Arunachal Pradesh – with pictures – in reaching out to the last man in the remotest corners of the state.
“Yes, the PM would share pictures of healthcare workers on motorcycles…on foot, crossing rivers, trekking for hours under harsh weather conditions, even just to vaccinate a single person. Arunachal Pradesh and the North East have a major role in achieving this stupendous feat of vaccinating 100 crore people,” he added.
To mark the moment of success, the dignitaries felicitated the healthcare workers and also lit Buddhist religious candles as a mark of appreciation.
Tawang legislator Tsering Tashi and officials of the district administration were also present on the occasion.
At Itanagar: The district health society of Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) also joined the rest of the nation in celebrating India’s major milestone in its vaccination programme against Covid-19.
In a function held at the old Art and Culture office building in Naharlagun, ICR deputy commissioner Talo Potom and district medical officer Dr Mandip Perme felicitated the healthcare workers with certificates of appreciation and later also released 100 balloons to mark the feat.
While appreciating the health workers for their services, DC Potom at the same time also appealed to them to continue carrying out their duties with sincerity and devotion.
Among others, National Health Mission nodal officer Dr Dimong Padung and district reproductive and child health officer Dr Tahan Mize were also present on the occasion.
Similar celebrations were also held at various other parts of the state including the West Kameng district.
