Aalo: A 24-year-old woman was found dead at her partner’s residence here in West Siang district, as reported by the local police on Tuesday.
The incident came to light when a man visited the Aalo police station around 10:30 pm on Monday, informing officers that his partner had died by suicide.
Subsequently, a police team went to the Old Market area where they discovered the woman’s lifeless body on the floor.
“The woman was transported to the general hospital where was officially declared dead by medical professionals,” Duto Bagra, the officer-in-charge of the Aalo police station said, as quoted by PTI.
Following this, the man was taken into custody for questioning.
“During the interrogation, he revealed that his partner had locked herself in a room, and after receiving no response to his repeated pleas, he forcibly entered to find her hanging from the ceiling fan. Complicating matters, blood was observed on the floor of the house,” Bagra said.
At present, the authorities are refraining from making conclusive determinations, acknowledging that the case could involve either pre-planned murder or death by suicide.
A thorough investigation is underway, with the exact cause of death anticipated to be clarified upon the availability of the post-mortem report. The incident has been officially registered as a case of unnatural death, the police officer said.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased woman has raised allegations, contending that her partner was responsible for her murder, as well as the death of his first wife.
According to the family, a domestic altercation between the deceased and the man’s first wife escalated, leading to suspicions of foul play.
