Rajnath Singh to celebrate Dussehra with Indian Army troops in Tawang

Itanagar: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to embark on a visit to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on October 24, coinciding with the Dussehra festival.

According to sources within the security establishment, minister Singh, during this visit, will pay his respects at the Tawang War Memorial.

The memorials is a significant homage to the 1962 India-China conflict that unfolded between October 20 and November 21, 1962, with the Tawang sector holding deep historical significance.

The Defence Minister’s itinerary is set to commence at Bum La, situated 37 kilometers north of Tawang. Singh will also conduct a comprehensive review of the ground situation along the LAC in the Arunachal Pradesh sector, as reported by the sources.

Following his return from the forward areas, Singh will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial and take part in the traditional ‘shastra puja’ (worship of weapons) alongside Army troops, marking the celebration of Dussehra.
