Arunachal top among states in GST revenue growth

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh has topped the state-wise list of GST revenue growth in the country with a record 90 percent year-on-year growth in April 2022.

According to the data released by the finance ministry on Sunday, Arunachal collected a sum of Rs 196 crore as Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in April this year compared to Rs 103 crore in April 2021.

Arunachal is followed by Ladakh in second place with a growth of 53 percent in GST revenue while the Andaman and Nicobar Islands which registered a 44 percent year-on-year growth in April this year took the third position.

Arunachal had registered a 14 percent GST revenue growth in March 2022 after the state collected Rs 105 crore as GST revenue. The state’s GST collection in March 2021 was Rs 92 crore.  

Union Law minister Kiren Rijiju took to twitter to share the information and congratulated chief minister Pema Khandu and deputy chief minister Chowna Mein for the record feat.

“Good news for India is GST Revenue collection for April 2022 is record Rs 1.68 lakh Cr. Great news is that Arunachal Pradesh recorded highest GST collection in April 2022 with 90% jump! Congratulations Arunachal Pradesh led by CM @PemaKhanduBJP Ji & DyCM & FM @ChownaMeinBJP Ji,” Rijiju said.

Chief Minister Khandu also shared the state’s achievement in a social media post.

“A great news from Arunachal Pradesh! Arunachal records highest growth of GST revenue during April 2022 vis a vis April 2021. A record 90% jump in GST collection,” Khandu said in his tweet.
