Miao: Arunachal Pradesh sports and youth affairs minister Mama Natung on Saturday inaugurated a boxing ring installed by the Changlang district administration at the State Sports Academy here.
Appreciating Changlang deputy commissioner Devansh Yadav for his efforts in installing the boxing ring to encourage the local youths to participate in sports, Natung said all deputy commissioners of the state should come up with such ideas which benefit the younger generation of their respective districts. “Though the boxing ring is small, it will immensely benefit the youth, and the public will remember the welfare works of such administrators,” the minister said.
Natung also assured to provide a permanent boxing coach for the sports academy.
“We will surely discuss this in a meeting later,” he said, appealing to the youths to identify their potential in sports and accordingly make their chosen discipline a profession.
The minister also appealed to the parents and village heads to encourage their wards to participate in sports activities with proper guidance and direction.
He said the state government has sanctioned funds to upgrade the sports academy and also to create a new one in the district. Also Read: Arunachal Football Player Gyamar Nikum called for National Football Camp
Urban development minister and also local MLA Kamlung Mossang said there would be no compromise in the quality of the new sports academy in the district.
The minister said his prime focus now is on demarcating the donated land to prevent any encroachment so as to ensure that the students have sufficient area to practice.
DC Yadav said the youths can come and practice boxing in the evening hours for free.
“Installing the boxing ring is a small move to bring out the talents from the district. I hope this will encourage the children to take up the sport and maybe bring laurels to the state later,” he said.
Among others sports secretary Anirudh Singh, director Tadar Appa and Changlang additional deputy commissioner Sunny Singh were present on the occasion.
