New Delhi: The quality of a theatrical performance by Arunachalee youths during the golden jubilee celebration of Arunachal Pradesh has made the Arunachal Pradesh government determined to develop a theatre hall for providing a platform to talented performing artists.
The play, ‘Arunachal – Ek Safarnama’ was directed by Riken Ngomle, an assistant professor in New Delhi’s National School of Drama (NSD).
On Saturday, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein visited the NSD to get first-hand knowledge about a theatre hall.
“The play enacted for the golden jubilee celebrations by our youths is a testimony to their talent and creativity. We need to give them a proper platform to hone their talents. A theatre hall, if developed, will help bring such artists together and in training our theatre actors, artists and other supporting technical talents,” he said.
He added that the state’s rich folk songs and folktales can be preserved and promoted through refined and improvised theatrical productions.
Apart from the theatre hall, Mein visited the sound and technical studio, costume, make-up and property rooms at the NSD.
He was accompanied by Santanu Bose, associate professor and head of Repatriation Company, Deepak Kumar, Head of Photography and Videography and Ngomle.
