Itanagar: Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighted the new opportunities for good governance through emerging technologies and appreciated the National Institute for Smart Government (NISG) team for undertaking a three-day training and capacity-building programme in this regard.
The programme, organised by the Administrative Training Institute in collaboration with the NISG and aimed at exploring futuristic innovations for efficient administration, concluded at Golden Jubilee Banquet Hall on Thursday.
“Even if the government functionaries are equipped with sophisticated technologies through this kind of capacity-building training if their intentions are not honest and ethical in public service, the training will not serve its purpose,” the CM said in his inaugural address on July 11.
He advised the participants to be honest in their intentions, transparent in their actions and ethical in public life.
“Right from the level of the contingency workers to the chief minister, everyone is paid from public funds and is equally answerable to the public for their actions,” he said, reiterating that any indiscipline and corrupt practices of public servants would not be tolerated.
The programme concluded on Thursday with chief secretary Kaling Tayeng giving away the course certificates to the participants.
Acknowledging the state government’s gratitude to the NISG team, he said: “We have to leverage the knowledge of ChatGPT, blockchain, and Internet of Things delivered during the sessions in solving the practical problems of the citizens, increasing state productivity, and better e-governance realising the dream of Digital India.”
The second batch of the same training would be organised on July 18-19 at the Banquet Hall. The training circular has been forwarded to the heads of offices and the head of departments via WhatsApp and people would be accommodated on a first come first serve basis, officials said.
The programme was attended by ministers Mama Natung, Nakap Nalo, and Tumke Bagra apart from the CS, principal secretaries, commissioners, secretaries, special secretaries, additional secretaries, chief engineers, joint secretaries, directors, and field officers.
The training covered Artificial Intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Google BARD, the Internet of Things, social media management, big data analytics, machine learning, blockchain, and cloud computing.
