Mechuka : State Legislative Assembly speaker P D Sona along with the PRI leaders and department officials on Friday inspected the 2×50 KW Yorko micro hydel project (MHP) here.
The MHP under the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency, which was lying defunct since long due to technical problems, was recently made functional following Sona’s persistent involvement.
The hydel at present provides power supply to several villages including Yorko, Sorangdam, Targelling and Segong.
Speaking on the occasion, the speaker asked the public to maintain the power station and said he will look into the possibilities of its upgradation in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the Shi-Yomi district unit of Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) led by its general secretary Cheeden Goiba and assistant general secretary Sonam Mosing called on Sona at his residential office here.
During the call on, the ATA members apprised the speaker on several issues pertaining to educational scenario and infrastructural development of schools of the district.
The association also requested the speaker for a boundary wall to be constructed around the Mechuka Government Higher Secondary School.
The ATA also informed that the teachers posted in different schools of the district are facing difficulties due to absence of teacher’s quarters and appealed to the speaker to look into it.
