Pasighat: Pasighat East MLA and advisor to urban development minister, Kaling Moyong, formally launched the “Public Wi-Fi” at 10 locations here on Tuesday.
The service was launched from Giidi Notko in the presence of East Siang DC Tayi Taggu, SP Sumit Kumar Jha, PMC chief councillor Okiam Moyong Borang, PSCDCL CEO Dr Manjuli Komut, members of CSFCC and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Moyong lauded the initiative of the Pasighat Smart City Mission and expressed hope that the extension of Wi-Fi facility in various locations of Pasighat would enhance the business factor in the city.
He noted that basic online services could now be availed by every section of the society, including students, researchers, and scholars. Moyong also added that the business community would be immensely benefited from this Wi-Fi service.
Moyong further added that the city-wide Wi-Fi public facility was one of the first of its kind in the state and the Pasighat Smart City Mission was properly aligned towards the objective of the Digital India transformation Mission of the Government of India.
He categorically advised the younger generation to avail the optimum benefits of the service for knowledge, skill, and personality development and overall welfare of the society.
Dr Komut informed that the “Public Wi-Fi at 10 locations of Pasighat covering 30 access points” was taken up under the City Innovation Exchange (CIX) of Smart City Mission by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
She also apprised that the facility has been extended to DC’s office complex, Siang Guest House, Pasighat bazar, civil terminal of Pasighat airport, Komlighat, BPGH, APSTS bus stand and JN College.
The CEO in her message has appealed the younger generation for judicious use of the public Wi-Fi system.
The consumers will get 1GB of Wi-Fi service free per day, after which, users will be charged a nominal fee according to their usage.
