SIC arrests another govt official in illegal teacher, MTS appointments case

Itanagar: The Special Investigation Cell (Vigilance) of the Arunachal police has arrested one more government official over alleged illegal appointments of primary teachers and other staff members within the education department in Siang district.

The case, registered under sections 120(B)/420/409/468/471 of the Indian Penal Code R/W Sec. 13(2) PC Act, 1988, (pertaining to illegal appointment of primary teachers and other staffs in the Siang education department), was initiated on the basis of a report submitted by one Tajing Saroh.

A case was officially registered at the SIC (Vigilance) on December 20, 2023.

SIC (Vigilance) superintendent of police Anant Mittal said the arrest was made after meticulous scrutiny of documents, interrogation of suspects, and technical analysis.

The arrested individual has been identified as Nong Paron (37) and was working as an upper divisional clerk (UDC) in the Boleng DDSE’s office. Paron is a native of Rengging village in East Siang district.

The SIC investigation into the illegal appointments is ongoing and all facets of the case are being investigated in detail, SP Mittal said.

As many as 13 individuals, mostly government officials, have been arrested in separate cases of alleged illegal appointments in the education department so far.
