Itanagar: A short story titled ‘Local’, written by Arunachalee author Gankhu Sumnyan, has been included in the fifth edition of ‘The Best Asian Short Stories (TBASS)’, an annual series of anthologies published from Singapore.
Published by renowned publication house Kitaab Singapore, TBASS brings together the work of 20 Asian writers residing in Asia and other countries every year.
Sumnyan’s story has made it to the 2021 edition of the book.
An assistant professor of Wangcha Rajkumar Govt College in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district, Sumnyan (35) is known for his creative writing in the literary industry.
His poetry collection ‘Old Friends’ Parade’ was shortlisted for the Satish Verma Young Writers’ Award 2015, an event organised by Muse India.
Sumnyan’s poems have also been published in journals like the Indian Literature and The Little Journal of Northeast India.
His short stories have also been published in several magazines of the state and country.
Sumnyan is also the president of the Tirap district unit of Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS).
Congratulating Sumnyan APLS president Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi and general secretary Mukul Pathak said that his success will lead many Arunachalee writers in the days to come.
