RGUSU’s 2016-17 batch donates books to Anini School, inspires reading culture

Itanagar: The 2016-17 batch of the Rajiv Gandhi Students Union (RGUSU) generously donated over 150 books to the Government Higher Secondary School in Anini, Dibang Valley district on Friday.

The books were handed over to the school in the presence of the deputy director of school education, G Umbrey and the school principal.

As part of their philanthropic efforts, the former RGUSU team also conducted an awareness programme at the school, emphasizing the pivotal role of cultivating a reading culture in students’ lives and the potential advantages it holds for shaping their future.

They encouraged the students to be diligent learners, strive for success, and contribute meaningfully to society.

Addressing the occasion, Keyom Doni, the chairman of the book donation drive, highlighted the altruistic nature of their annual reunion programme as a platform for giving back to society.

Doni underscored the collaborative effort behind the initiative, acknowledging contributions not only from their batch but also from individuals across the state who rallied in support of the cause.

During the event, speakers delivered motivational messages, urging students to perceive education as a powerful tool for personal growth and societal betterment.

One former RGUSU member emphasized: “A well-read mind is a powerful mind. Cultivating a habit of reading opens doors to endless possibilities and knowledge, empowering individuals to navigate life’s challenges with resilience.”

The DDSE and school principal commended the RGUSU team for their commendable initiative, recognizing the noble cause behind the donation.

They expressed gratitude for the valuable contribution that significantly enriches the learning environment of the school.
