Roing: Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein, in the presence of former chief minister Mukut Mithi, MLAs Mutchu Mithi and Zingnu Namchoom inaugurated the newly consecrated Bazar Shiv Mandir here on Friday.
The renovated temple’s enhanced foundation not only serves as a sacred place for the Hindu community residing in Roing but also stands as an ideal venue for joyous festival celebrations.
Addressing the assembled crowd, Mein commended the enduring efforts of the Mithi family in safeguarding the temple’s spiritual sanctity over the decades. The temple has been an integral place of worship since its establishment.
Mein underscored the significance of preserving the cultural heritage of the region and affirmed the state government’s commitment to this cause while advancing developmental projects in alignment with the vision of a prosperous India.
“Key objectives driving progress in the state encompass infrastructural development, tourism promotion, border security reinforcement, and more,” he said.
The deputy chief minister stressed the importance of retaining cultural traditions while embracing modernity and urged the people to fulfill their responsibilities in realizing the goal of a developed India.
During the inauguration ceremony, Mein and the dignitaries in attendance offered prayers to Maa Durga on the occasion of Shashti, marking the commencement of Durga Puja celebrations extending from Eastern India and beyond.
They also paid tribute to Late Khumso Mithi Naba, whose enduring legacy led to the consecration of the temple.
In 1983, Late Mithi established a Shiv Mandir in Roing dedicated to the Hindu community in the area. Since then, the Mithi family has diligently preserved the sacred atmosphere of this holy sanctuary.
Among the attendees were former minister Roding Pertin, Roing assistant commissioner, Srinivas Sadi, PRI leaders, government officials and members of the business community.
