Itanagar: Chief Minister Pema Khandu, on Thursday, assured his commitment to safeguard the interests of the state’s government employees and pledged that his government would take all feasible measures to address the issues faced by them.
The chief minister’s assurance came during a meeting with a delegation of the Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) which, led by their secretary general, Gonya Riba, called on him at his office here.
According to a statement from the CoSAAP, the primary agenda of the meeting was to advocate for the immediate discontinuation of the National Pension Scheme (NPS) in favor of restoring the Defined Pension System, commonly known as the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Following the submission of a formal representation letter, Khandu assured the CoSAAP team that he would engage in deliberations with the chief secretary and principal secretary of finance regarding this matter in the near future.
In addition to the pension system, the chief minister also outlined his administration’s focus on enhancing the training modules provided to state government employees.
The goal is to improve their skills and work culture, given the unique challenges and abundant resources that Arunachal Pradesh possesses.
Khandu emphasized the importance of responsibility and a sense of ownership among all employees, highlighting their crucial role in implementing government policies and programmes.
The chief minister also expressed his expectations for guidance and suggestions from officers to ensure the smooth and effective governance of the state.
He further emphasized the pivotal role of CoSAAP as the umbrella organization representing various employee associations in contributing to the rapid development and future prosperity of the state.
“Despite the challenges associated with managing a diverse and expansive state, the state government remains committed in its collective efforts to transform Arunachal into a developed and unified region,” Khandu said.
