Itanagar: Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) mayor Tame Phassang on Thursday asked the executing agencies concerned to expedite the construction work on Packages B and C (Papu Nallah to Banderdewa) of the 4-lane national highway (NH-415) without further delay.
Expressing resentment over the delay in implementing the project, Phassang also appealed to the state government to blacklist all firms which are unable to carry out the works despite winning bids for the same.
The Mayor along with Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso, ICR deputy commissioner Talo Potom, highway engineers and other officials earlier inspected the proposed construction of the four-lane highway.
“The people of Itanagar Capital Region want good roads in time. When the tender process is completed and the work has been assigned, there shouldn’t be any delay in completing the project,” Phassang said.
Asserting that the change in the detailed project report (DPR) or design and transferring the main contract to a sub-contractor after the tender process could cause more delay to the project, he advised the construction agency to avoid making any such moves.
“I also want the officials concerned to maintain a proper vigil on the construction process. All major hurdles including that of compensation have already been solved so the construction work should begin at the earliest,” he added.
The mayor further urged the state government to call the main bidders/contractors and officials of ARSS Infrastructure Project Limited and M/s Goodwill-Shivam (construction agencies) for the high-level meeting on the highway which is scheduled for next week.
Meanwhile, PWD (highway) Nirjuli division executive engineer Bini Pelen informed that the main construction process will begin from February 14 and renovation works from Naharlagun to Nirjuli have already started.
DC Potom on his part informed that once the tender process is complete, the administration or government cannot interfere in the technical part of the work but they can monitor the same so that the work is carried out smoothly and as per the norms.
