Arunachal Guv releases book on ‘foods processing & packaging’

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra, who is on an official tour to New Delhi, released a book titled “Functional Foods Processing and Packaging” at the Arunachal House in Chanakyapuri on Saturday.

Written by Tanweer Alam of the Institute of Packaging and Saket Kushwaha, vice-chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, the book provides better understanding of use, benefits, significance and impact of functional food ingredients on human health.

The book will serve as a unique reference for food scientists of the research and development departments of food companies that are working with functional foods and ingredients. Additionally, it will serve as a source of basic information for college and university students majoring in food science and technology, food processing, and engineering.

The governor, while complimenting the authors, highlighted the recent works being done by the Arunachal Pradesh government in the food processing and packaging sector. He reiterated the importance of packaging traditional and ethnic food products of the region.

Earlier, Alam presented two of his recently published books on the packaging of fruits and vegetables and quality control of food packaging material to the governor.

Sarwar Alam, Dean of Hamdard and Sanjay Chattopadhyay of the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals were present on the occasion.
