Parshuram Kund Festival-2024: Mein announces strategic upgrades, grand statue unveiling

Tezu: A review meeting was convened at the Parshuram Kund here in Lohit district on Saturday to deliberate on the planning and preparations for the upcoming Parshuram Kund Festival-2024.

The comprehensive discussion which was chaired by deputy chief minister, Chowna Mein, delved into a meticulous examination of observations and feedback gleaned from the recently concluded festival earlier this year.

In response to the insights gleaned, a strategic route plan has been formulated to tackle previous bottlenecks, ensuring a seamless and hassle-free experience for the pilgrims attending the Festival next year.

The meticulously crafted plan encompasses designated parking spaces tailored for different vehicle categories, well-defined entry and exit pathways, temporary food stalls, and the provision of free Prasadam served by the Parshuram Sewa Samity, Manav Utthan Sewa Samity and the Border Roads Organization (BRO) at the parking locale.

During the course of the meeting, Mein issued directives to the executing agencies, urging them to expedite construction and ensure the completion of all pending works by March 2024.

Furthermore, he apprised the gathering that a master plan for the ₹150 crore Parshuram Kund Project has been meticulously prepared, accompanied by instructions to formulate a detailed project report (DPR) for subsequent submission to the Government of India.

The deputy CM also made a noteworthy announcement that the grand unveiling of the 51-foot statue of Sage Parshuram is scheduled for January, immediately following PKF-24.

Additionally, he pledged grants-in-aid for Parshuram Kund, emphasizing that the statue is a generous donation from the VIPRA Foundation.

Sushil Ojha, Founding Member of the VIPRA Foundation, disclosed the completion of piling works and the imminent transportation of the Parshuram statue from Durgapur within the next 15 to 20 days, with the installation set to conclude by December 2023.

Mein also conducted an onsite inspection of the ongoing infrastructure project at the Parshuram Kund Pilgrimage Site under the PRASAD scheme.

The forthcoming festival is slated to feature an array of cultural displays, trade fairs, and exhibitions, showcasing the rich indigenous cultural heritage, products of local self-help groups (SHGs) and small businesses.

Stringent regulations prohibiting the sale of liquor at food stalls will be rigorously enforced, with adventure activities planned to enhance the festival experience for visitors.

Special attention will be accorded to the effective management of ailing and elderly pilgrims, coupled with the round-the-clock maintenance of washrooms, waiting sheds, and other public spaces at the festival site.

Among the notable attendees at the review meeting were Lohit deputy commissioner, Shashvat Saurabh, heads of departments (HoDs), members of Parshuram Dham Sewa Ashram Samity, and representatives of the VIPRA Foundation.
