Over 500 join DNGC’s blood donation camp on Nat’l Voluntary Blood Donor’s Day

Itanagar: In commemoration of National Voluntary Blood Donor’s Day, the NSS unit of Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) in collaboration with the Arunachal Life Saving Foundation (ALSF) organized a mega blood donation camp at the college auditorium here.

Over 500 participants, consisting of professors, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and students, enthusiastically took part in the significant event.

The medical team, including nurses and technicians from R K Mission Hospital and North East Nursing College of Health Science in Lekhi, played a vital role in ensuring the event’s success.

Addressing the occasion, ALSF chairperson Ramesh Jeke shared his life experiences and motivated the students to step forward and donate blood to save the lives of those in need.

He proudly announced that his organization has organized approximately 13,000 blood donation camps and collected around 9 lakh, 58 thousand units of blood to date, earning numerous accolades in the field of life saving and humanity.

Earlier, College principal Dr M Q Khan extended warm greetings and salutations to the ALSF team, especially Jeke, who is an alumnus of DNGC.

He praised their noble efforts in upholding the spirit of humanity and encouraged the students to remain motivated, maintain good health, and adhere to the NSS motto: “Not me, but you.”

The formal segment of the event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Botem Moyong, programme officer of the DNGC’s NSS unit.

Moyong shared valuable information about the average lifespan of red blood cells (RBC) and reassured the students about the importance of donating blood without fear. He concluded his speech with the resounding slogan, “Come forward, donate blood, and save lives.”

Following the formal agenda, the blood donation activity continued until 5:00 pm.

DNGC, a premier educational institution in Arunachal Pradesh with a capacity of over 5000 students, contributed more than 130 units of blood voluntarily on the day.

The event concluded on a high note with a group photo session, symbolizing the collective commitment to the noble cause of saving lives through blood donation.

Among others, R K Mission Hospital medical officer Dr Subu Apang, DNGC NSS programme officers Dr Chello Lima, Phuntso Gombu and Dr Liza Mihin and other faculty members, actively participated in the daylong event.
