Itanagar: Two cultural teams, one from the Nyishi tribe and the other from the Bugun (Khowa) community, were a part of the 25-member team from Arunachal Pradesh to participate in Taj Mahotsav, an annual art, craft and cultural festival of the Uttar Pradesh government.
The festival with the theme ‘Aazadi ke Amrit Mahotsav sang, Taj ke Rang’ is currently underway at Shilpgram in Agra.
During the festival, the cultural teams showcased different tribal dances of the state while the highlight of their performance was a combined dance on ‘Hamara Arunachal’, a de facto state song for Arunachal Pradesh.
The dance enthralled both tourists and locals during the festival.
Organized by the department of tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh, the 10-day-long Taj Mahotsav is celebrated to promote rich arts, crafts, culture, cuisine, dance and music of the state and country.
Among others, the highlights of the festival include a procession including bejeweled elephants and camels, drum beaters, folk artists and master craftsmen, Food Festival, and the availability of fabulous works of art and craft at the most legitimate prices.
The festival is being celebrated successfully since 1992.
