North East India Fashion Week announces 6th edition – The Artisans Movement

Itanagar: Get ready for a dazzling celebration of culture and style as Yana Ngoba Chakpu, the chief executive officer of North East India Fashion Week (NEIFW), has announced the dates for the eagerly awaited sixth edition of the fashion extravaganza.

Themed “The Artisans Movement”, the event is scheduled to be held at the picturesque Koro Happa River Island in Jollang, near here from November 19 to 21, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of North East India.

The three-day fashion spectacle is organized by “One Arunachal,” a registered NGO dedicated to raising awareness and preserving the traditional heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.

“NEIFW’s core mission for “The Artisans Movement” is to conduct pilot studies aimed at improving the prospects for inclusion, empowerment, and the quality of life of artisans and weavers in the region. The event is set to honor the artistic talents of artisans from across North East India, featuring the participation of nearly 30 designers and weavers,” Ngoba said.

One Arunachal chairman, Joram Tat, expressed their commitment to identifying artisan role models, boosting self-esteem within the artisan community, and providing a platform to showcase their unique talents.

“Ongoing skill development and capacity building will be a key focus, aiming to enhance employability, secure better livelihoods, dignify labor, and establish a global brand presence,” he said.

The sixth edition of NEIFW underscores inclusivity by offering equal opportunities to Divyangjan and non-Divyangjan artisans, promoting industry exposure and awareness among artisan entrepreneurs.

The event will encompass workshops, round-table conferences on inclusive skilling, and a captivating ramp show featuring models, craftsmen, and artists, making it a holistic celebration of the unique culture and traditions of northeast India.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu will grace the event as the chief guest, with the expected presence of other distinguished guests, including Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, Pijush Hazarika, along with a host of other dignitaries.
