Itanagar: In a tragic incident, one Millo Ricky, an employee of the Koronu branch of India Post in Lower Dibang Valley district, succumbed to injuries following a brutal assault and kidnapping.
According to a lookout notice issued by Lower Dibang Valley superintendent of police Akanksha Yadav, the incident, which took place on May 10, involved the alleged forcible abduction of Ricky from his official quarter by one Dehun Umbrey (28) and accomplices.
“After being confined for hours, Ricky, a native of Ziro in Lower Subansiri district, was brought to the Roing police station, where it was discovered that he had sustained serious brain injuries and was in a coma,” the notice said.
Despite efforts to treat him at a private hospital in Dibrugarh, Ricky passed away on Friday, leaving his family devastated.
Millo Yapi, Ricky’s mother, has demanded the immediate arrest of Umbrey and others involved.
Inspector T Uli is leading the investigation into the case, and a formal complaint has been registered.
Umbrey is, however, on the run and a lookout notice has been issued against him.
SP Yadav has urged the public to share any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects, especially that of Umbrey.
Contact details for the authorities are as follows: Lower Dibang Valley SP: 9436228786, Deputy SP: 8414989850, Dambuk SDPO: 7005811530, Roing police station officer-in-charge: 9362950954, Lower Dibang Valley SP office control room: 8415852461.
If media reports are to be believed Umbrey, the accused, had gone to “rescue” one Tadar Sumpi after receiving a call from her brother.
Sumpi, who worked with Ricky at the post office, had called her father to report that Ricky had “physically assaulted her”.
Upon receiving the call, Sumpi’s brother asked Umbrey to rescue his sister, and Umbrey proceeded to do so.
It is believed that the altercation occurred thereafter.
