Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Monday visited the Yangste post along the India-Tibet border in Tawang district and interacted with the officers and jawans of the Sikh Light Infantry regiment of the Indian Army.
Khandu, who is on a three-day tour of the India-Tibet border in Tawang district, later took to twitter to share the information.
“Visited the Yangste post at 1500 ft near India-Tibet China border to meet our Indian soldiers. The determination and courage of our jawans are praiseworthy who are putting up a brave front in guarding the icy heights of the border. Addressed the jawans during my visit,” the chief minister said.
The visit of the chief minister at the Yangtse post located along the Indo-Tibet border comes around a month after a minor face-off was reported between the Indian and Chinese soldiers near the post.
Media reports stated around 100 Chinese army personnel had reportedly tried to enter the Indian Territory but were forced back. There were also reports of some physical engagement between the two sides.
The matter was, however, resolved within a few hours following talks between commanders of the two sides, reports said.
Chief Minister Khandu also shared pictures of his visit to the Yankee-1 border outpost.
He said it was a proud feeling to be with the soldiers and interact with them.
“We are safe at our homes because our jawans are keeping strict vigil at the borders foiling any nefarious attempts by the enemy. It’s a pride feeling to be with our soldiers, to meet and interact with them. Visited the Yankee-1 border post near India-Tibet China border,” Khandu tweeted.
The chief minister during his two day tour would be meeting the Indian soldiers guarding the frontiers at Yangze and Chuna and also the villagers of the Mago and Thingbu villages in the borders.
Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, Commissioner (Planning) Prashant Lokhande, Commissioner to chief minister Sonam Chombey and other officials accompanied the chief minister on the day.
