Itanagar: The state government has taken action to annul the illegal appointments of 20 individuals as work-charged (WC) staff in the PHE and Water Supply department, under Miao circle in Changlang district.
In an order issued by PHE&WS secretary A K Singh on Tuesday, it was revealed that the appointments were made in violation of prescribed procedures and without sanctioned posts.
Consequently, the state government has sanctioned the cancellation of these appointments, and the secretary has instructed the PHE&WS superintending engineer to promptly issue formal termination orders for the 20 WC staff under Miao circle.
Expressing satisfaction over the development, All Arunachal Pradesh Public Health Engineering Water Supply Department Workers Union (AAPPHE & WSDWU), president Tadar Dawa, mentioned that the union had identified 25 illegal appointees, out of which the appointments of 20 have been approved for cancellation, and the remaining are under departmental inquiry.
The union has filed a complaint with the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of the state to apprehend the officials involved in the illegal appointments.
Accordingly, Dawa urged the SIC to swiftly investigate and prosecute the corrupt officials responsible for the scam.
He also acknowledged the support of the state government, the public, student organizations, and labor unions in their “anti-corruption” campaign.
The AAPPHE & WSDWU had on May 08 issued a 7-day ultimatum to the state government to revoke the appointments, threatening to escalate to a democratic movement if their demands were not met.
The state government had assured them of a response and urged the union to refrain from any form of agitation.
