Itanagar: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Monday said that the Arunachal Pradesh government is giving special attention to the development of infrastructure in the border areas of the state.
“The construction of Trans-Arunachal Highway is going on in full swing while the government would also develop three model villages in border areas, one each in eastern, central and western zones. Micro-hydels would also be developed at places where electricity supply does not reach through the power grid due to difficult terrain,” Mein said.
The deputy chief minister said this while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the office of the superintendent police at Hawai in Anjaw district.
Appealing to the people to cooperate with the government agencies in smooth construction of roads in the border areas, Mien said all other developments will follow once a place is connected through proper roads.
He further asked the Anjaw deputy commissioner to expedite the process of land compensation to start the road construction work at the earliest.
Taking cognizance of the poor mobile network at Hawai, Mein assured to install smart monopoles (street poles with multi telecommunication functions) in the district headquarters to boost the telecommunication connectivity of the area.
The DCM later also inaugurated a fire station.
Home Minister, Bamang Felix in his address sought the cooperation of people in maintaining peace in the district.
The police alone cannot control the law and order situation unless there is support from the public and society, he said.
Local MLA Dasanglu Pul submitted a memorandum to the DCM requesting funds for construction of a multi-purpose hall-cum-badminton stadium at Khupa, quarters for the SP, deputy and Hawai police station officer-in-charge, police outpost at Walong, installation mobile towers at Hawai and Walong, among others.
Director General of Police R P Upadhyaya, Anjaw deputy commissioner Talo Jerang and SP Neha Yadav also spoke on the occasion.
