Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government has issued a gag order on government employees, prohibiting them from making any adverse statements or criticisms against the government in social or print media.
The order cites Rule 9 of the CCS (Conduct) Rules, 1964, which states that government employees cannot make any statement of fact or opinion that adversely criticises current or recent policies or actions of the Central or State government.
The order warned that “such behaviour without permission is unbecoming of government servants and is liable for disciplinary action.”
The government also reminded its employees that such behaviour is in violation of the rules governing their conduct and any violation of the order will be construed as serious misconduct, inviting disciplinary proceedings.
The order, signed by Dharmendra, the chief secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, emphasises that government employees should exercise caution while expressing themselves in any social media, which may invite disciplinary proceedings under CCS (CCA) Rules, 1965.
The government has reiterated that the order is aimed at maintaining discipline and ensuring that government employees adhere to the rules governing their conduct.
