Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein on Tuesday released a book titled ‘Kamlang Tiger Reserve – at a Glance’ authored by Cheshta Singh, the DFO of Kamlang Tiger Reserve here.
The book documents the rare flora and fauna found in KTR, one of the youngest tiger reserves of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Mein said that documentation of biodiversity and cultural diversity is very essential for conservation and preservation and added that research and development should go hand in hand.
“The Kamlang Tiger Reserve (KTR) located adjacent to the Namdapha Tiger Reserve can form into a nature trail and has all the potential to become an exciting trekking track passing through the Glaw Lake in Lohit district to the Mehao Lake in Lower Dibang Valley,” he said.
Mein lauded the young IFS officer for documenting the rare flora and fauna of Kamlang Tiger Reserve and bringing out a beautiful book within just two years of her stay in Arunachal Pradesh.
This indicates her (Singh’s) enthusiasm and dedication to her profession, the DCM said adding that the book will be useful for the young scholars and will inspire them in writing and documentation of the rich and natural heritage of the state.
Among others, home minister Bamang Felix, advisor to power minister Balo Raja, MLA Ojing Tasing, chief secretary Sharath Chauhan, PCCF R K Singh and commissioner (planning) Prashant Lokhande were present on the occasion.
