Dy CM Mein inaugurates key infrastructure projects in Tirap

Itanagar: Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein, on Monday inaugurated a composite bridge over Charju River in Deomali and an auditorium hall and ‘Rangsoam Hum’, an indigenous prayer centre at Borduria in Tirap district on Monday.

The newly constructed 50-meter composite bridge over Charju River, connecting Deomali to Hukanjuri, has been funded by RIDF (NABARD) at an approximate cost of Rs 5.14 crores and executed by the PWD.

The bridge will not only streamline travel between Deomali and Hukanjuri check gate, bypassing Assam but will also benefit areas such as Namsang, Sippini, and Sumsipathar by providing a direct route to Khonsa without traversing Assam, thereby reducing travel time and distance.

The community hall at Borduria, constructed by the UD and Housing department, will serve as a central hub for conducting essential meetings and social gatherings. Additionally, the inauguration of the Rangsoam Hum, built at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh by the PWD, holds cultural and spiritual significance, serving as a focal point for preserving and promoting indigenous faiths and practices.

Addressing the occasion, Mein commended the initiatives of local legislator, Wanglin Lowangdong, aligning with the state government’s interests.

He emphasized that the enhanced accessibility provided by the composite bridge will act as a catalyst for further progress, predicting that improved road communication will lead to additional developments in the area, uplifting the socio-economic conditions of the people.

Mein also underscored the importance of the auditorium hall at Borduria, stating that such infrastructure is essential in every district headquarters and circles for hosting crucial meetings and official functions.

While acknowledging the inevitability of modernization due to globalization, Mein stressed the need to preserve traditions. He stated that the Rangsoam Hum (indigenous prayer centre) will facilitate the preservation and promotion of indigenous faiths and practices.

The deputy chief minister further reiterated the state government’s commitment to holistic development, encompassing vital sectors such as road communication, education, healthcare, and access to clean drinking water.

Furthermore, he appreciated the intricately crafted handloom and handicrafts by local artisans in Arunachal Pradesh.

He highlighted the importance of generating awareness about the Geographical Indication (GI) Registration of local products, recognizing its role in enhancing marketing opportunities for these unique creations.

Advocating for the “vocal for local” ethos, he championed the promotion of indigenous handicrafts and cultural practices, aiming to create sustainable income sources and boost tourism.

Mein was joined by PHE&WS minister Wangki Lowang, MLAs Wanglin Lowangdong, Wanglam Sawin and Chakat Aboh and Tirap ZPC Chathong Lowang, among others.
