Longding: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, while concluding his three-day election campaign in the Tirap, Changlang, and Longding (TCL) region, highlighted the transformative changes brought about in the area.
He emphasized achievements such as improved road connectivity and infrastructure development, including the rapid construction of the Trans-Arunachal Highway, which has enhanced connectivity from Changlang-Khonsa-Longding to Kanubari.
Mein also noted the successful establishment of road connectivity to the Vijaynagar circle, fulfilling the last-mile connectivity need.
During his campaign, which began on April 5 from Jairampur in support of BJP candidates, Mein participated in public rallies and highlighted various developmental initiatives. These included the construction of new district secretariat buildings, district hospitals, and circuit houses, improving administrative efficiency and healthcare access in the region.
The deputy chief minister mentioned the inclusion of the TCL region in the tourism circuit of India, a long-awaited demand, he said, was fulfilled by the BJP government.
“Initiatives such as the Namdapha Butterfly and Pangsau Pass Festivals have been launched to promote tourism, with plans for further promotion in the sector, he said.
Mein also emphasized advancements in the telecommunication sector, including the installation of mobile towers and the upgrade to 5G connectivity.
In Khonsa, Mein spoke about the state’s holistic development under the BJP government, highlighting initiatives such as the Vibrant Village Programme and the state’s financial achievements, including a 136% increase in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and a surge in per capita income by 104%.
“The BJP government’s efforts have also led to a 213% surge in installed hydropower capacity, and agreements with central PSUs for 13 stalled hydropower projects worth around 12,500 MW have been signed,” he informed.
Mein also mentioned the groundbreaking ceremony of the 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose project by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, coinciding with the inauguration of the Sela Tunnel in March.
The campaign concluded with a mega rally in the district headquarters of Longding, where Mein noted that the BJP government has resolved long-standing water scarcity issues and connected every household with functional tap water through the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), with additional funding from the State Government.
“Under the Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the BJP government has recognized the Wancho Warriors who fought against the British during colonial rule, and their names have been recorded in the list of Unsung Heroes and tribal freedom fighters. War Memorials commemorating the 1875 Anglo-Wancho War are also being built at Ninu,” he highlighted.
Mein reiterated the BJP’s commitment to bringing development to every village in the TCL region and expressed hope that the massive turnout at the rallies reflects the people’s confidence in the BJP government’s vision for progress.
He appealed to the people to wholeheartedly support BJP candidates in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha polls to continue the developmental pace in the state.
During the campaign, Mein engaged with the community and sought support for BJP candidates in the upcoming elections.
Notable BJP leaders present at the rallies included Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia, Eastern Parliamentary candidate Tapir Gao and various other candidates from different assembly constituencies.
