CM Khandu announces full sponsorship for APST students at IITs

Itanagar: In a move aimed at bolstering educational opportunities for students from Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has announced that the state government will fully sponsor any Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) student who secures a seat at the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT).

Speaking at the budget discussion session of 8th legislative assembly on Thursday, Khandu emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting meritorious students.

“The government will entirely sponsor any APST student who bags a seat in the IIT,” he stated.

In addition to this, Chief Minister Khandu revealed an encouraging provision for students aspiring to study abroad.

“If any APST student gains admission to a university within the top 150 of the QS World University Rankings, the state will sponsor 75% of the total expenses,” he informed.

Recognizing the financial challenges that some students may face, he further assured, “If the student is unable to bear the remaining 25%, the government will gladly sponsor that as well.”
