Itanagar: The Capital Police have successfully arrested two habitual offenders and recovered a substantial amount of stolen items from their possession.
Over the past two months, numerous complaints regarding the theft of air conditioner copper wires and electric wires were filed from various locations of the capital city.
Responding to the seriousness of the offenses, a team comprising of Itanagar SDPO Kamdam Sikom, IPS (Probationer) Pawan Kr Yadav, Itanagar police station officer-in-charge inspector K Yangfo, inspector Yomken, sub-inspector A K Jha, assistant SI Vikash, head constables Kamgo, Bagang and Doyom, constables Ligu, Jerry and Sandeep was formed under the close supervision of Capital SP Jimmy Chiram to look into the cases. Also four separate cases were registered at Itanagar Police in connection with the crimes.
Utilizing local sources and analyzing CCTV footage from various areas, the team identified and apprehended two suspects namely Jitendar Mukhia (18) and Tabia Kapa (27) from the Chandranagar Industrial Colony here.
While Mukhia is a native of Khalawagaon Parsauni village in Bihar and presently residing near IG Park, Kapa hails from the Kakoi village of Papum Pare district.
During the investigation, the accused individuals confessed to their involvement and provided information about the stolen items. They revealed that they had stolen air conditioner copper wires from the SBI near Bank Tinali, Axis Bank near Civil Secretariat, Super 99 shop in Ganga market, Reliance office in Chandranagar, Govt Higher Secondary School in ESS sector and Dokum colony.
Acting on the information provided by the accused, the stolen air conditioner and electric copper wires were recovered from two scrap dealers. Both individuals have been charged under section 411 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for their involvement in the crime.
The arrest of the two accused has successfully solved four cases.
Commending his team of the arrests, SP Chiram, has at the same urged the residents of the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police for immediate action.
