Itanagar: The Central government has granted approval for seven significant bridge projects in Arunachal Pradesh as part of the Setu Bandhan Scheme for the current fiscal year, with the aim of improving connectivity in the state.
Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari, announcing the developments via X, formerly Twitter, stated that these projects have a combined budget of Rs 118.50 crore.
“Under the Setu Bandhan Scheme, we have given the green light to seven bridge projects with a total budget of ₹118.50 crores, earmarked for Arunachal Pradesh in the 2023-24 financial year,” Gadkari announced.
The approved projects include an RCC bridge over Pacha River at Lachang, linking Laimoya, Nerewa, and Sorrowa villages in the East Kameng district, RCC bridge from Goang to Donigaon village over Pacha River at Goang, en route to Donigaon in the district.
Three bridges on NH-313, spanning from Roing-Anini road to New Chidu village via NHPC colony in the Lower Dibang district and a double-lane steel composite bridge with RCC decking in Kharsa, located in the West Kameng district under Dirang.
An additional RCC bridge at Pikte Point, crossing the Sigen River to connect Tabiripo Saku village on the Koyu-Goye road in the Lower Siang district, RCC bridge over Ngopok River on the Mebo-Dhola road in the East Siang district and steel composite bridge over the Panyor River, connecting Chullyu and Kebi villages near Yazali Agri-Farm in the Lower Subansiri district have also been approved by the centre.
“Enhancing connectivity across regions, and fostering economic development, these projects align with our commitment to improving the overall quality of life and promoting the socio-economic growth of Arunachal Pradesh,” the union minister added.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his delight in response to the approval of these critical projects.
“Bridging gaps in connectivity through Setu Bandhan Scheme has been possible, thanks to unwavering commitment of Hon PM Shri @narendramodi ji to all round development of Arunachal Pradesh. New bridges will improve our people’s ease of living and give a boost to local economy too,” Khandu said on X.
