Bring High Court to Arunachal: Governor to Rijiju

ITANAGAR: Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra on Thursday asked Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju to ensure a full-fledged High Court for strengthening the judicial system in the state.

The Governor also requested the minister to augment the infrastructure and the manpower for the courts in the state.

The governor made the request when Rijiju called on him at Raj Bhavan here seeking good wishes for his Jan Ashirwad Yatra.

Mishra congratulated Rijiju for being the first person from Arunachal Pradesh to be included as Cabinet Minister in the Union government.

He hoped that as a member of the Union Cabinet, Rijiju would strengthen the North East development policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and contribute effectively to the progress of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Governor also asked Rijiju to expedite essential development projects of the state to increase the pace of development. Also Read: Arunachal governor calls for concerted public effort to beat TCL challenges

Rijiju will cover six districts from Itanagar Capital Region during the three-day ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ which will culminate in Namsai on August 21.

The other districts are Papum Pare, Lower Siang, West Siang and Lohit.

The Union minister is also scheduled to address five public interactive sessions, the first which took place at the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre on Thursday, followed by Likabali and Pasighat circuit houses on August 20, and Roing Circuit House and Lekhapani Golden Pagoda on August 21.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein and Rajya Sabha member Nabam Rebia were present on the occasion.
