Arunachal to showcase Bugun Community Reserve at 75th Republic Day Parade tableau

Itanagar: A tableau highlighting the Bugun Community Reserve, a community led conservation initiative in West Kameng district will be showcased at the 75th Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.

Focused on the Singchung Bugun Village Community Reserve (SBVCR), established in 2017 for the protection of the region’s biodiversity and cultural heritage, the tableau will spotlight rare species like the Bugun Liocichla, a passerine bird species and the Red Panda.

The SBVCR is a 17 square kilometer biodiversity hotspot in Arunachal and is located next to the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary and Sessa Orchid Sanctuary.

Fabricated by the art and exhibition cell of the directorate of information and public relations (DIPR), this tableau secured its place through a competitive selection process led by the expert committee of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

Arunachal’s consecutive participation for the fourth time defies the ministry’s guidelines, a testament to the unwavering efforts of the team led by Hage Habung, the art expert in the art and exhibition cell of the DIPR.

Special Resident Commissioner at Arunachal Bhawan, New Delhi, Mithali Namchoom, is the nodal officer who along with Habung would be serving as the group leader (overall in-charge) and Sangey Tsewang taking on the role of fabrication supervisor.

Thirteen proficient female artists from Singchung, including Tenzin Wangmu Glow, Anjali Tamang, Anjina Phiang, Manjina Phiang, Tenzing Wangmu Phinya, Payal Sarum, Oshin Dema Glow, Tsering Dema Lali, Esha Bachung, Nina Hagam, Priyanka Sarung, Sonam Sarung, and Nima Yangzom Phinya, will contribute their performances to the tableau.

The tableau will showcase the Bugun Liocichla and other avian life in their natural habitat on the tractor section. The Bugun traditional dance will lead the trailer segment, featuring depictions of visitors, outdoor activities, and the endangered red panda with a cub.

Skilled dancers on both sides will enhance the tableau, infusing it with grace and cultural richness for the celebration.
