Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh displayed its martial arts prowess at the India Organization (KIO) All India Cadets, Junior, and Team Kumite Karate Championship held in Dehradun on September 23, securing a commendable tally of 3 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
In the highly competitive arena of junior male Kata, Khyoda Talik outshone the competition, clinching the prestigious gold medal. Adding to the state’s glory, Rota Rigia and Pala Dodum secured gold medals in the individual junior male Kumite, competing in the 50kg and 68kg categories, respectively.
In the cadet male Kumite category, Ayanso Khamblai showcased his skill and determination, earning a well-deserved silver medal. Meanwhile, the female cadet category saw remarkable performances by Michi Dishi, Renia Veo, and Mechi Liyak, each of whom bagged a silver medal in the Kumite event.
The individual junior category also witnessed outstanding contributions from Arunachal Pradesh’s athletes. Lipin Ete, Jinke Naji, and Diya Das displayed their martial arts finesse by securing bronze medals in the Kata and Kumite events. In the male junior Kumite category, Tyson Krong added to the state’s medal haul with a bronze.
The Arunachal Pradesh Amateur-do-Karate Association (APAKA) has issued a statement congratulating the medalists for their exceptional performances, lauding their dedication to the sport, and emphasizing the pride they brought to the state.
The successful journey to Dehradun was facilitated by the guidance and leadership of coach Yarda Tadap and manager Sadan Yun, who played pivotal roles in the preparation and success of the Arunachal Pradesh contingent.
