Itanagar: Likabali legislator Kardo Nyigyor in the presence of Lower Siang deputy commissioner Marto Riba on Friday inaugurated a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at the Kangku Circle of Lower Siang district.
With the inauguration, the remote circle of Kangku has finally got its own PHC as it until now, had only a health sub centre. The PHC at present would be run by one doctor, nurse and a health and wellness officer.
The PHC was sanctioned in the year 2019; however, its construction had been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Congratulating the people of the area, Nyigyor said, Kangku being a border circle, the new PHC will not only be beneficial for the locals of the area but also for those from the neighboring villages of Dhemaji district in Assam.
In case of an emergency, the public from both the sides of the border can avail the medical facilities rather than going all the way to the Dhemaji or Likabali towns, he said.
The MLA also assured that the manpower of the PHC would be increased soon.
Quarters for the doctors, a barrack for the nurses and a proper compound wall will also be constructed, he said.
Among others, Lower Siang superintendent of police Kushal Pal Singh, divisional forest officer Taba Bajum, Kangku circle officer Kalen Saroh and Gaon Buras from different villages of the Kangku circle participated in the programme.
