Itanagar: Over 850 patients benefited on the first day of the two-day mega health camp organized by the Sherdukpen Employees Welfare Association (SEWA), at Shergaon in West Kameng district on Friday.
The camp, being conducted in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, Heema Hospital, Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences was inaugurated by a group of elderly women of the village called Ai Manepu.
A team of specialized doctors in Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Medicine, ENT, Dental, Paediatrics, Surgery, Dermatology, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Radiology, etc participated in the camp and examined patients.
In the camp, special screening on cervical cancer, normal OPD services, eye screening, EGC, Echocardiography was done and free medicines were distributed.
SEWA president Dr Rinchin Dorjee Megeji said that it is still a challenge to get proper health facilities in many remote parts of our state, so we are trying to provide facilities through such health camps.
He also said that early detection is a good way to prevent the severity of diseases.
Dr Megeji appealed to the people to take full advantage of the visiting specialist doctors in the camp.
The second day of the camp will be conducted in Rupa.
A total of 15 doctors will cater to elderly patients from remote villages.
A team of Ophthalmology of the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital will offer services like eye screening and cataract operation, which is very common among the elders.
